Profile processing in simulation.

A concept showing how long aluminium profiles could move from storage through preparation, drilling and hook insertion to a vertical coating line.

The model brings the equipment and handoffs into one sequence for layout and process review.

  1. 00:00 — Storage and delivery. A rack elevator transfers a skid to a mobile shuttle, which delivers it to a fixed intake and leaves.
  2. 00:38 — Preparation and picking. An operator removes two tape bands and clears the cell. The gantry picks profiles across the top layer before moving down the stack.
  3. 01:20 — Drilling and hook insertion. A SCARA robot drills the end of a profile, changes tools and inserts a hanging hook.
  4. 01:45 — Transfer and line loading. A transfer beam supports the profile as it is raised onto the vertical line. The sequence continues through the selected skid; the loaded profiles remain on the line.
Model scope

One skid through the cell.

The selected skid contains 165 identical profiles in 15 layers of 11. Each profile is tracked from its place in the stack to its carrier on the coating line. Other skids remain in storage; automatic processing of successive skids is outside this demonstration.

Future work

The current scene uses scripted motion, sensor events and operator actions. Further development could connect a PLC for sequence testing and refine the rack and transfer mechanisms.

A physical implementation would require assessment of hook retention, contact forces, profile sag and machine safety, supported by handling trials.
